102nd birth anniversary of late Majrooh Sultanpuri celebrated with a book l aunch ‘Rahe Na Rahe Hum’!
It’s always said that the earlier era music of Hindi films was classic and it’s still fresh and liked by the new generation too. Apart from singers, composers, lyricist too played a big role in famous songs. One of the very talented lyricist happens to be late Majrooh Sultanpuri whose 102nd birth anniversary was celebrated with much fanfare. Lyricist Vijay Akela has compiled late Majrooh Sultanpuri’s choicest songs into a book titled, ‘Rahe Na Rahe Hum’. The title is inspired from the Majrooh’s famous song from a 1966 film ‘Mamta’.
Majrooh Sultanpuri’s hit songs from 1946 till 2000 are incorporated in the book “Rahe Na Rahe Hum” which is edited by Vijay Akela. Famous writer, script writer, poet and lyricist of Bollywood films Shri Javed Akhtar released the book in the presence of a lot of dignitaries. Majrooh Sultanpuri’s son Andalib Sultanpuri and daughter Saba were present at the event. Singer-Actor Shailendra Singh, Music Director Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit fame) actor Kanwaljeet, philanthropist Aneel Murarka, Shashi, editor-publisher Rajesh Shrivastav, actor Kavita Seth, singer Madhushree, singer Jaan Kumar Sanu and the representatives of the Publishers Rajkamal Prakashan were present.
It was a wonderful evening where the hit songs from films like Shah Jahan, CID, Teesari Manzil, Yaadon ki Barat, Mere Jeevan Saathi, Jo Jeeta Woh Sikandar etc. were played. Special dance performance by renowned Classical Khathak dancer Sunaina Dubey regaled the attendees. Chief guest Javed Akhtar praised Majrooh Sultanpuri’s way of writing songs on the tunes prepared by the famous music composers with the right mixture of words from Urdu and Hindi.
