4 ‘Black Ladies’ for ‘Panchayat’
2020 has been a year of the world finding their joy as they appreciate the positive things happening around them amidst the pandemic Covid-19 and it has not been any different for The Viral Fever. It seems that Christmas has come early for the pioneers of Online Content, fondly known as TVF, as their biggest release of 2020, Panchayat picked four black ladies at the “Filmfare OTT Awards 2020”. Panchayat has become one of the biggest hits of 2020 and loved by viewers and critics alike, a consistent trait of most of TVF shows.
The much-appreciated show was nominated in seven categories overall and winning four out of them is a huge coup! Panchayat won, one of the biggest awards of the evening, for Best Comedy Show, along with the actors of the show Jitendra Kumar, Neena Gupta and Raghubir Yadav also taking home trophies in the comedy section.
TVF Founder & Producer of Panchayat, Arunabh Kumar was present to receive the trophy for Best Comedy Series. He remembered his days as a kid when he loved watching Filmfare shows on television and confessed that he could have never even wished for a better end to this difficult year. He got along his entire team of Panchayat, Writer- Chandan Kumar, Director- Deepak Mishra, Head TVF Originals- Shreyansh Pandey, Studio Head- Arun Kumar and President & Business Head- Vijay Koshy, to receive the trophy.
He says, “When Panchayat’s name was announced and I stood up to go to the stage, it was difficult to realise that a dream that I had seen as a boy, to hold this prestigious trophy, had come true. And I am so glad that our amazing cast & crew were recognized for their brilliance as well. The idea of this show came to me way back in 2016, when I thought of making a show inspired from Malgudi Days, which is a tribute to Indian Villages and then Deepak & Chandan shaped it and took it to another level. Thanks to the support from our partners, we are glad that it brought a smile to the viewers during such a tough time and cherry on the cake is being rewarded for our efforts by your peers at the most legendary awards in India. I cannot thank Filmfare enough for such a lovely memory.”
Here are the four awards that TVF’s Panchayat took home:
Best Comedy (Series/Specials): Panchayat
Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Male): Jitendra Kumar
Best Actor in A Supporting Role in a Comedy Series (Female): Neena Gupta
Best Actor in A Supporting Role in a Comedy Series (Male): Raghubir Yadav
