Although ‘Titli Current Maarti Hai’ is a regional series, the issues that it addresses are prevalent!
Director #AnshumanChaturvedi’s series #TitliCurrentMaartiHai sets the tone of all that is wrong with the country today. The story, although based in Bihar, addresses problems faced by the entire country, says Anshuman.
“Set in Bihar’s Gardani Bagh, Titli Current Maarti Hai is the story of a girl named Titli who runs a dance school. Titli is the symbol of a small town girl’s aspirations and dreams. They all wish to fly away one day; they want to breathe fresh air. Their misfortune is that the air around them is unclean and dusty. The two political groups of Gardani Bagh are very volatile and violent. If mornings name aspirations by sunset gory violence dominates. Titli though has delicate wings. She is colourful. And these violent men want to tame her. They want to crush her wings. They want to own her. Will they be able to cage her or she will find her way and emerge as the butterfly who shocks them like electric current is the story of Titli Current Maarti Hai,” he says.
Talking about working with Kannad star Raminitu Chaudhary, he says, “Ramnitu is a huge star from the Kannada film industry but she is very down to worth as her roots are in Punjab and very few people know that her parents are famous folk singers from Punjab. As I narrated the script, her eyes were moist and she immediately said yes to the script as she felt the need to address the issue.”
The response of the series has been fabulous, says the director, adding, “We shot it in Hindi heartland as well as Mumbai and the show was a magnum opus for the platform. It became a roaring hit and then was released in multiple languages along with Hindi. One can watch it in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada on DishTV and Watchon app as well.”
Although it’s a regional series, the issues that it addresses are prevalent and the way they are executed is relevant country-wide, says the director. “Although the series is based in Bihar, we tried to make it universal by making it in Hindi with a Bihar dialect as the subject is female centric. In the times of global village, there’s nothing like regional anymore as our smallest issues are taking the centre stage as now they are no more issues of one person or one state. They have become the concerns of a larger set of people so in that way TCMH hai has bigger objectives and bigger concerns to deal with,” he says.
