Pranali Bhalerao : ‘Takatak’ quashes the myth that all sex comedies are vulgar

Debut movie is extremely dear to any actor. But if you are trolled for the subject of the film, then it’s disillusionment for you. Same or similar feelings were felt by a newcomer like Pranali Bhalerao before the release of her debut film. Her first film ‘Takatak’ was touted to be sex comedy and it was looked down upon by many conservatives. Actress Pranali Bhalerao made her Marathi film debut in the movie Takatak which hit the box office in 2019 and also caught everyone’s attention, and all perceptions changed. The film will have its world television premiere on Zee Talkies on July 26 at 12 noon and 6 pm. Pranali interacted with Cine Buster, here are some of the excerpts….
This movie did well at the box office and won many awards. What were your feelings?
‘Takatak’ changed my life. When the movie was released, it was getting a huge response from the audience from day one. All the theaters were housefull.  I didn’t think the audience would respond so positively to the movie, because before the movie was released, there were negative comments because it was based on a bold topic. But we were all very positive. We were fully aware of what we were showing in the film. We noticed a lot of difference in the audience’s comments when the movie was released. The audience was full of admiration for us. Audiences were coming to see this movie with their family. The response we received was overwhelming and we all consider it as an award. After a Houseful month, we had a big celebration.
You had a lot of bold scenes with your co-star. How was the response from the audience?
Everyone in Marathi film industry was shocked. Because a song with such bold scenes was displayed in Marathi movie for the first time. Shruti Rane has sung this song very beautifully. 17 million people have watched this song. I also had a bit of fear in my mind because of the bold scenes. But when the song was released, the audience responded positively and my fears were dispelled.  Unexpected response from audience calmed my nerves. A lot of people called and texted me and told me that the song was sensuously beautiful.
Takatak is having a world television premiere on July 26 on Zee Talkies. What will you tell the audience? How are you going to spend your day?
I am very excited as this movie is being telecast for the television audience for the first time. I am sure that the audience will respond to the movie pragmatically because according to us it’s a family-watch. World television premiere happening on Zee Talkies is a great thing as it’ll reach maximum number of people. Due to lockdown I am at my native place. I am going to call all villagers and have a community screening, if possible. I am sure the myth that all sex comedies are vulgar will vanish.
The whole world is at a standstill.  Do you have any fond memories of this lockdown?
In this Covid 19 pandemic era we are all terrified of this crisis. I and my family are taking care of each other. Takatak cinema always inspires me to think positive. I’ll say my lockdown too is ‘Takatak’. This cinema has changed my life. The journey of Takatak is still ongoing. Takatak was mentioned in every interview I gave. I was really lucky to be a part of this movie. The songs of the movie, the trailer are still in the memories of the audience. Many such news reaching me creates positiveness in me.
Do you have any memories behind the scenes?
On the last day of the shoot, I had injured myself and could not use my hands for anything. In fact I was sleeping throughout the day. During that taxing times Bharat dada (Chala Hava Yeu Dya fame Bharat Ganeshpure) fed me with his hands. It was very touching and I fondly remember it always. This is a great memory for me.
