Review : Vash : Throwing chills through the spines of viewers!

Movies on supernatural subjects have been made for donkey’s years, especially in Hollywood. But back home in Bollywood too this subject is used to scare and entertain audiences. There is a section of the audience which backs movies on ghosts, supernatural elements etc. Supernatural is attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature. A new movie named Vash is releasing this Friday which deals with the similar subject throwing chills through the spines of viewers.

The story of Vash takes place in a picturesque Himachal Pradesh. The movie starts with a warning given by pandit Vishwas Verma that travelling during the Sun eclipse is dangerous. But one couple Riya and Vicky do not pay heed to it and venture out. Due to highway being closed they have to take a road through jungle. But after a few minutes their vehicle conks off and to get it repaired they venture out. Unfortunately some unknown force kills both of them. Cut to our protagonist Rakshit (Vivek Jaitley), who is seen returning from London to Paragpur, Himachal Pradesh. He proposes his steady girlfriend Aanchal (Ganga Mangai) and they get married after a presenting a love song. During the wedding ceremony some untoward thing happens which dampens Aanchal’s spirit. Days go by but some unknown force keeps appearing troubling Aanchal. Rakshit and Aanchal try to fight that evil force and rest of the story forms the crux of the narration.

Vash can be described as ‘possessed by the opressed’. Though the plot is not very novel the treatment given is interesting. Director Jagmeet Samundri has managed to handle spooky scenes very well. The music is passable but the background score helps the narration in a big way. Cinematography is excellent which captures the natural beauty of Himachal. The lead pair Ganga Mamgai and Vivek Jaitly present their characters convincingly. Ganga looks beautiful and aces the required emotions of the character. Rituraj Singh and Kaveri Priyam do lend good support.

Vash is a well made movie wherein supernatural elements are showcased in a novel fashion.
