Talking about her role Mrunmayee Deshpande reminisced, ‘I enjoyed playing Kesar in Farzand and after it’s success prompted second part to be made. Director Digpal Lanjekar started work on Fatehshikst and I was sure that he’ll come to me with Kesar. I was informed about different nuances of Kesar in this film. She could not err as a lot of lives were dependent on her actions. Bahirji Naik, who was a sleuth for Shivaji Maharaj, inducted her in his team. In fact Kesar’s preparations were ongoing since the first part, that’s why it was not that difficult for me to reprise it. The moment I read the script I knew what is expected from Kesar’s character. I extracted the core of the character to the satisfaction of the director’.
