Review : Pyar Hai To Hai : Importance of Friend Zone!

In most of the Hindi films, especially #KaranJohar films, it’s emphasized that friendship is the stepping stone for love. Most of the love stories follow this formula, sometimes incorporating hate too, in the films. On the other hand, the importance of having true friends is of utmost importance because they stand by you in difficult times. The messages of the importance of friends and friendships are doing rounds on social media too. Pyar Hai To Hai is about love and friendship wherein the importance of Friend Zone is focused on. This youthful film follows the path of clichéd narration path and try too send across a couple of social messages too.

Nimmo (Paanie Kashyap) and Armaan (Karan Hariharan) are childhood friends and their friendship continues in their youthful days too. But Armaan has started having feelings for Nimmo but she is unaware of it and considers him her best friend. Enters Vikas (Abhishek Duhan), a handsome young guy in the neighbourehood. He gets besotted by the beauty of Nimmo and starts wooing her. She too reciprocates and they end up in bed. But after that Vikas disowns Nimmo as she wants marriage from him. Feeling jilted, she seeks help of her best friend, Armaan, who now has political connections too. What transpires next forms the crux of the story.

The love triangle in the story has been given modern twists and the freshness of the actors make it appealing. The screenplay should have been more dramatic because a lot of clichéd scenes make the film predictive. Pradeep Choudhary, who has debuted direction with this film, is okay. He has played safe by putting the story in a simple manner. He does send a message of not using females emotionally to satisfy physical desires. Also he highlights the importance of having a true friend in life. Music is good and a couple of songs are noteworthy. The scenic locales of Rishikesh are beautiful and the cinematography is excellent. The mountainous beauty comes across fabulously.

Karan Hariharan, son of noted singer Hariharan, has done a good job considering this being his debut film. He scores in emotional scenes and songs. This is Pannie Kadhyap’s debut film and apart from having a good screen presence she has acted decently. Both together bring freshness on screen. Abhishek Duhan is okay and the same could be said about the rest of the cast.

Pyar Hai To Hai, is a refreshing take on a love triangle.
