Godrej Interio’s ‘Make Space for Life’ survey reveals work-life balance among workforce
When it comes to steady work life balance, Chandigarh workforce tops the list followed by Ahmedabad And work pressure prevents Hyderabad and Chennai workforce feel to spend ample time to their families, it was found out during a survey ‘Make Space for Life’ by Godrej Interio.
77% of Chandigarh workforce rate their work life equilibrium as balanced followed by 74% of Ahmedabad according to the latest findings of Godrej Interio’s Make Space for Life survey. These figures contrast sharply with responses from Kolkata (13%) and Delhi (16%) which reveal a major imbalance in their work life ratio.
The study revealed that while Kolkata, Chennai Hyderabad and Delhi are not being able to give time to family, friends and their own passion due to work pressure, compared with Ahmedabad, Patna, Pune and Jaipur who have better work life balance. While, more than three-quarters (77%)of the respondents in Chennai claim they miss out on living their life in their own way in the balancing act of work-life compared to only 47% of the respondents in Patna.
The Make space for life survey is a light hearted study that aims to highlight that in pursuit of professional excellence and maintaining work life balance people feel they are losing out significantly on creating strong family ties or spending quality time with friends. The survey was conducted across 13 cities including Chandigarh, Mumbai, Jaipur, Patna, Coimbatore, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad.
The survey also reveals that work pressure plays a major role in hampering work life balance. For instance, 74% of the respondents in Hyderabad and Chennai feel work pressure doesn’t allow them to spend ample time with their families compared to only 39% respondents in Pune. Similarly, 43% of the respondents in Delhi claim they are not able to give time to their passion due to their professional life compared to a meagre 12% of respondents in Jaipur.
