Saanand Verma says that dance helps make your body healthier by increasing its flexibility!
On #InternationalDanceDay, #SaanandVerma says, “Dance is the symbol of flexibility.” On this International Dance Day that is observed on April 29, actor Saanand Verma says that dance helps make your body healthier by increasing its flexibility. He believes this contributes to overall wellness in the long run. “Dance symbolizes flexibility, which is crucial in life. When you’re flexible, you experience fewer physical and mental issues. I always strive to learn new steps and enjoy this art form. I believe that to be a good dancer, one must be physically and mentally flexible. Flexibility allows you to adapt to whatever comes your way, similar to how our teeth aren’t flexible and we lose them eventually. Achieving flexibility is essential. If you want to learn dance, you need to embrace and cultivate flexibility,” he explains.
Discussing his favorite song to groove to, he shares, “My favorite song is ‘Beedi Jalayle Jigar Se Piya’ by Vishal Bharadwaj. I can’t resist dancing when I hear this song. Sunidhi Chauhan has sung it beautifully.”
Furthermore, he expresses his lifelong enjoyment of dancing. “Despite not receiving formal training, I consider myself an exceptionally good dancer. My physical flexibility enables me to learn steps quickly and understand them well. Additionally, conveying the right expressions and emotions is crucial. When you dance, your facial expressions should complement your movements. I feel fortunate that my expressions align with my dancing, which is why I believe I’m a gifted dancer.”
When asked about the importance of dancing for actors, he emphasizes, “As an actor, being a proficient dancer is essential. In India, where we work, our films are often melodramatic and heavily involve dance. Whether it’s Bollywood or South Indian cinema, dance plays a significant role. Dancing is an ancient form of art that has transcended time and evolved. It’s deeply ingrained in our culture and will continue to thrive.”
He also notes the popularity of dance reels on social media, saying, “Content centered around dance will always be relevant because dance is the ultimate form of expression. It brings joy and spreads positive energy. It has been a staple form of entertainment throughout history, and it will continue to enrich our lives. Dancing and singing complement each other, enhancing our overall well-being. Dancing is a superpower of happiness and positivity.”
