Ekta Tiwari opens up on importance of #Navratri
Forming a deep bond with her culture is important to actress Ekta Tiwari. The actress, who appears in the show #GudiyaRani, adds that Navratri is one such occasion that strengthens this connection.
“At this stage in life, my work schedule doesn’t always allow me to celebrate as freely as I’d like, but I do my best to maintain a spiritual connection to my culture. In my childhood, I used to run a Garba group, and I loved participating in the dance myself. Along with that, I observed puja, fasting, and other rituals during the festival,” she says.
She adds, “To me, Navratri represents the nine different forms of Goddess Durga. Each day is dedicated to a different roop (form) of the Goddess. As a Hindu (and a Brahmin girl), I feel deeply connected to the powerful presence of these nine goddesses. I believe that their energy is present in me and in every woman, guiding us in different situations.”
Taking out time for the festivities can be tough, says the actress, adding, “It can be difficult with a packed schedule, but I believe the Goddess herself creates a way for me to take part in the celebrations. I genuinely think we are all puppets, guided by the supreme force in everything we do. She makes sure I find time to honour her, whether through devotion or festivities.”
She adds, “My brother and I used to fast just for fun, enjoying the special “fasting food” rather than fasting strictly for Navratri. In general, I follow a simple diet plan that I adhere to throughout the year. Also, I feel that we don’t need to wait for the nine days of Navratri to defeat the evil within or around us. It’s something we can strive for every day, both personally and professionally. Overcoming negativity is just a decision away. Wishing everyone a happy Navratri! May the Goddess bless you with strength, power, happiness, prosperity, peace, and success in everything you desire.”
