Mrunal Thakur, “I am scared but the financial burden on people is so much a reality that we need to bear in mind”
Barely weeks after wrapping up the penultimate schedule of Jersey, is Mrunal Thakur all set to return to Chandigarh for the film’s final schedule. Amidst rising Covid cases in the country, the situation has been persistently alarming causing a sense of fear amongst unit members. After a fresh surge of cases post Diwali, and suggestions of a second wave and new restrictions, Mrunal says that the unit has decided to go back to adopting the strictest health and sanitary measures. By creating a bio-bubble and strong quarantine rules, the unit will be minimizing contact with the outside world for pending days of the shoot.
Mrunal says, “When we decided to go back to work, we had anticipated this situation. It is worrisome but I have complete faith in my producers and unit members. If we follow guidelines and adopt the strictest measures, we will be able to conclude the film without any hassles. Unforeseen situations may arise at any given point in time but we will try our best to reduce contact with the outer world. We have doctors and sanitary officers on set who keep an eye on things to reduce the chance of us coming in contact with the virus. At this given point in time, we can hope for a better time and with a vaccine in the vicinity, we will be able to pull through the phase. Completing the film is a priority because how long can we keep work on hold when people are struggling to put food on their tables. A film is not made up of its stars alone. The entire unit is family and while I can afford to sit at home, I know that if I don’t work, my unit will not get paid. It’s a collectively moral responsibility. Does it scare me? A little, yes but the financial burden on people is so much a reality that we need to bear in mind.”
