The Final Exit
Producer: Vishal Rana and Mrunal Jhaveri
Director: Dhwanil Mehta
Star Cast: Kunal Roy Kapur, Archana Shastry, Elena Kazan, Saurabh Dubey ,Reyhna Malhotra and Scarlett Wilson
Genre: Supernatural horror
Rating: * 1/2
Boring!
The film revolves around the protagonist Vidyut (Kunaal Roy Kapoor), a fashion photographer trapped in the monotony of a routine which includes almost all the vicious, life-destructive temptations in life including smoking, alcohol, drugs and sexual promiscuity. He becomes the victim of recurring dreams where he finds himself in a deserted locale, photographing a woman.
PLUS POINT
The best thing about the film is that the DOP has captured the expanse of Ladakh pretty well. Kunal Roy Kapur tries his level best to infuse life into his half-baked role but fails to rise above it, while Saurabh Dubey has been wasted in a role that he does not suit at all.
MINUS POINT
One of the biggest loopholes in the film is the execution of the story and the validation of the characters. Dhwanil Mehta does make an effort to raise some poignant and philosophical questions about life, death and beyond, but fails to stage the story in a well-ordered manner.
VERDICT
The film fails to either scare you or make you numb with shock and sadly turns out to be a run-of-the mill supernatural thriller with too few twists and turns.
