Ribbon

Producer: Prakash Mondal and Swathi Mondal
Director: Raakhee Sandilya
Star Cast: Sumeet Vyas, Kalki Koechlin
Genre: Social
Rating:**

HALF BAKED!
The upwardly mobile Sahana (Kalki Koechlin) does not want to shoulder the responsibility of motherhood early but Karan( Sumeet Vyas), also on a career fast track, reacts to her pregnancy differently. She’s sure it is bad timing, but he’s convinced all will be well. This story of urban relationships runs through a gamut of issues and angst affecting a modern working couple that must adjust to an unplanned pregnancy.

PLUS POINTS
Raakhee Sandilya proves that she is a promiosing director with her very first film. If Ribbon works at all, it is credit to Kalki Koechlin’s and Sumeet Vyas’ committed and convincing performances.

MINUS POINTS
The trouble with the film is that several societal and emotional comments get underscored, and also there is scant exploration of several compelling issues. The film which starts on a promising note starts meandering halfway thorough and what’s more ends all of a sudden with an open conclusion.

THE VERDICT
The film may find the sailing at the box office tough because it starts off with one storyline and ends with another.
