Poetry is the truest form of expression, it’s said. Supporting linguistic diversity through poetry, UNESCO has declared March 21 as World Poetry Day. &TV artists Manmohan Tiwari (Rohitashv Gour) from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, KatoriAmma (Himani Shivpuri) from Happu ki UltanPaltan and Sarla (Samta Sagar) from Gudiya HumariSabhi Pe Bhari are not just great actors but are also amazing jugglers of words. On this special day, they talk about their love for poetry and what inspires them to write.

Rohitashv Gour aka Manmohan Tiwari shares, “I have always had a special liking towards Hindi literature. Poems written by Sharad Joshi, Harishankar Parsai and Prem Chand inspire me and help provide newer perspectives to life. Another good part about poetry is that it brings me immense peace from within. While today’s generation might not enjoy the yester year’s classics as much as we did, I still urge people and most importantly the youth to spare few moments from their from their busy lives and either read or listen to poems.”

Himani Shivpuri aka Katori Amma, whose poetry stole many hearts when she was hospitalized due to COVID, shares “When I am alone, poetry gives me company, when I am sad, poetry cheers me up and when I am happy poetry becomes a way to express it. Even at the worst of times, when I was admitted to the hospital, poetry kept me going. It is a form of expression that inspires. I feel that hum sabke andar ek kavi chupa hai. I have been writing for a very long time, it keeps me rooted and I feel that emotions which can’t be shown can be expressed through poetry. Classics have a special place in my heart as they never get old.”

Samta Sagar aka Sarla shares, “Poetry has been an inseparable part of my life. From reading to writing to reciting, I love everything about poetry. With the blooming space of social media, I feel poets have got a space to share their beautiful treasure of words with the world, so I have also tried doing the same. I feel poetry gives me wings to fly in the sky of imagination and escape from reality for some time. It gives peace to my mind and soul. I love admiring nature and then penning down the beauty of it with my words.”
