Sonali Nikam and Sameer Dharmadhikari are extremely fond of authentic Maharashtrian food!

India is known for its diversity, not just in culture and tradition but also in cuisines. Every region has its unique food preparation traditions and ingredients that create special local dishes. Similarly, Maharashtra offers a variety of delicacies worth drooling for. #OnWorldFoodDay, &TV’s #GharEkMandirKripaAgrasenMaharajaKi’s #SameerDharmadhikari (#AgrasenMaharaja) and &TV’s #MaukaEVardaat’s #SonaliNikam (#PoliceInspectorKeertiKaul) go on a Maharashtra food trail to share their favouritelocal cuisines and eateries in the state.

Punekar Sameer Dharmadhikari (Agrasen Maharaja, Ghar Ek Mandir-Kripa Agrasen Maharaja Ki) says, “Sometimes the regular food items we consume become extraordinary if the right mix of spices are added to it. Though I am not a very big foodie and I prefer homemade food over restaurants but there are some special food joints in Pune which I have tried – Bedekar’s Missal Pav, The Cold Drink House’s Mango Mastani, Vaishali’s dosas, Delhi Chowk’s Chole Kulche and Dadu’s Jalebi. When my kids were little, they would always insist on having the thick chocolate shakes – Cad B or the vada pav from JJ Garden stall. Whenever I visit Pune, I make sure to refresh my tastebuds with the authentic Maharashtrian food.” The Orange city too offers some of the best of sweet and savoury food items.

Sharing her food experiences in Nagpur, Sonali Nikam(Police inspector Keerti Kaul, Mauka-E-Vardaat – Operation Vijay) said, “You might have had samosas at different places but the one offered in Nagpur stands out for its spices and condiments. If you are in the city, the perfect breakfast to kickstart your day is the special poha with gravy (tarri). There is no lack of variety when it comes to food in Nagpur. There are stalls and restaurants offering variety of aromatic food like Matka biryani, Patodi and Kadhi, Saoji, and Param Ki Daal. However, what steals the limelight is the special dessert – Santra Barfi. It instantly melts in the mouth and is the perfect combination of sweet and tangy flavour and what better place to have it than the Orange city! Also, this World Food Day let us all ensure to respect food and not waste it. There are many who are deprived of even the basic two square meals a day.”
