Nilam Kenia says, ‘I feel social media can be very overwhelming, it’s important to go in for a social media detox regularly’!
#Celebrity hair and makeup artist #NilamKenia says that when it comes to social media, people prefer posting only happy moments, milestones and achievements. So, the meaning of being real on social media differs for different people, she says.
“Social media can get very overwhelming. As I said there are all sorts of people on social media and it is very subjective. It’s important to not get carried away. Most people don’t post their failures, struggles or bad moments on social media. They might have their reasons. Only achievements and good moments are posted. So again, I would say it’s completely subjective as to what you believe to be real on social media and you have to draw a line for yourself as to how much of it you let out or believe,” says Nilam.
Nilam says that she has gradually warmed up to the medium. “I was a person who was totally away from social media but I am getting a hang of it slowly. As of now, I post majorly about my work. A little bit here and there about fitness, especially in my stories. I feel social media can be very overwhelming so I feel it’s important to go in for a social media detox regularly,” she says.
However, Nilam adds that she tries not to take the medium very seriously. “I generally don’t really let social media affect me. I am pretty much neutral. I feel if used correctly social media can help you reach heights with your work. But, at the same time, there are all kinds of people on social media so you have to be extremely careful what you allow yourself to consume from social media and don’t let social media consume you,” she says, adding, “Whenever I am free, I do go through the social media platforms for a while to check what’s trending in terms of fashion, hair etc.”
