Shalini Pandey shares, “‘Sajna’ is an unusual track, very different from the regular fare!”
Tell us something about your recent #MusicVideo – ‘#Sajna’.
“#Sajna” unfolds the story of a woman who’s life can be described as sailing in a boat of unfulfilled desire. Sajna is a blend of #Indian composition with future bass production style that is on the borderline of pop and trap, having a sparse beat pulsating like a heartbeat. But the wind of love doesn’t let her stop from dreaming. Yet , hope makes her yearn and wait for a savior to rescue her from the tides of harsh reality.
It is a bittersweet love ballad made for audiophiles. Lyrically, Sajna describes the feeling of longing of a lover and how everything starts and ends for love and that the only cure for love is to love more.
How was it working with Vikram Montrose?
What attracted me was the Vikram’s thought process, sensitive and layered storyline, and the Director’s vision regarding the colour pallete and the production design. Actually right from the time I heard the audio track of the song, I was hooked. It’s an unusual track, very different from the regular fare.
The entire team and I are working towards achieving his vision and I am glad that he is happy with the end result.
What kind of a role would you like to play in your near future?
I will like to play a character, which apart from giving full creative satsfaction to me, as an artist, should also be able to bring some positive changes in the society and make some difference to their lives. Otherwise, the character has to really serve the purpose of the entertainment.
What’s your take on OTT content which is now giving competition to the big screen.
It is a great medium of experimenting with a wide range of creative thoughts. A plenty of makers and story tellers wanted to tell plethora of stories, but mediums were limited only to Cinema and TV, which had their own constraints. With the presence of OTT, narrating all such stories have become possible, particularly the long formats of series. These platforms have provided immense opportunities to everyone related with the media and entertainment industry.
As such OTT should not be seen as competition to ther big screens, they actually complement each other.
Any Upcoming Projects in the pipeline?
My film, Fingers Crossed, a comedy is ready for release and will release soon. Next is my dream project, an intense love story named Pyaar Hai to Hai, which will go on floor in September. Apart from these two there are two films where the discussions are happening, details of which cannot be revealed at this stage. I am also preparing for one music video to be made very soon.
