Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’, now, takes theatrical route
In Indian history Bajirao Peshwa is one warrior who did not lose a single battle, but those laurels were not appreciated enough. Instead his love life was discussed more and whenever Bajirao’s name crops up, Mastani’s name comes alongside. A few year’s back Sanjay Leela Bhansali made Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh (Bajirao), Deepika Padukone (Mastani) and Priyanka Chopra (Kashibai) which was a huge hit. Now that story is being presented on stage in a form of a musical. It’s being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Maitreyee Pahari is directing it while Kathak maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj is the creative director for the play.
Rajniesh Duggal turns ‘Bajirao’ for Bajirao Mastani musical play while Shailaja Nalawade, a renowned Kathak dancer, is reprising the roles of Mastani and Anusha Majumdar, again proficient in Kathak, will play Kashibai. The first look of Actor Rajniesh Duggal as ‘Bajirao’ for Bajirao Mastani musical play was revealed today and it’s difficult to know with Covid 19 pandemic threat and the consequent lockdowns around, the play being staged live or virtually.
The original score of ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was superhit and the same numbers are expected to be incorporated in this musical as Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the producer of this ‘Bajirao Mastani’ too. The musical is based on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie Bajirao Mastani with Maitreyee Pahari directing it.
