A special screening of a movie on Down Syndrome, Ahaan, for the differently-abled!
It’s often difficult to choose a different path of storytelling especially if one is a filmmaker. With commercial movies taking up maximum space in the theatres as well as OTT platforms, there is a huge chance that creative and slice-of-life dramas will easily get lost in the midst.
Knowing the consequences, writer and director Nikhil Pherwani took it upon himself to tell the world a heartwarming story. A sweet tale, Ahaan focuses on the friendship between a young man with Down Syndrome and a middle-aged guy suffering from OCD.
Having received praises from all the corners for the movie, the entire team of Ahaan recently came together and hosted a special screening for 50 differently-abled kids. Sharing about the experience, Pherwani shares, “It was a beautiful experience. Watching the kids get engrossed in the movie, cheering on and loving every minute of it brought a sense of pride for the work we have done. By working on this movie, I realised that we often get so caught up in our chaotic, and unnecessarily complicated lives that we forget to live and cherish the simpler moments. Spending the past years working with Abuli and meeting with people with Down Syndrome has encouraged me to get these rarely explored stories on the big screen for the people to enjoy.”
Directed by Nikhil Pherwani, Ahaan, a heartwarming tale of the most unlikely of friendships stars Arif Zakaria, Niharika Singh, Plabita Borthakur, Rajit Kapur and introduces Abuli Mamaji, a young man with Down Syndrome in the titular role. A Will Finds Way Films production, this slice of life story by Nikhil Pherwani & Abhishek Pherwani has released in theatres on 19th March 2021.
