Any artiste who wants to excel in acting should go through the rigours of theatre. It strengthens the base of acting and the artiste is ready to face any medium with ease. But in the current scenario a lot of artistes are prone to give importance to television serials, web series and films. There are only a few actors who love doing theatre, one of them being actress #PoojaKaturde. Pooja has been doing glamorous roles in various serials like #AhilyaBaiHolkar, #GanpatiBappaMorya, #VithuMauli, #Bakarwadi, #Sangtuaaheska? She was part of movies like Baban, Ti Vel too.
But Pooja Katurde enjoys doing theatre. In fact it’s meditational for her. She says, “I never was part of any acting project. But, in 2015-2016, I did Pradip Vaidya’s theatre workshop in Pune. After that we were asked to do a solo act. I still remember that day, there was a tension, excitement. I wanted to live that moment, I was scared, I was experimenting with all these mixed emotions. Those 40 minutes were learning process to me. At that time, the reaction of the audience, the mistakes made, the fun of acting, the whole experience was very new for me. After that I fell in love with theatre.”
Pooja has done experimental one-act plays till now. These include Elab Solo Act Play, Kavadsa Solo Act. Apart from that, in 2019, Pooja along with her friend Chaitanya Sardeshpande staged a play Googleefy. Talking about Googleefy Pooja says, “Chaitanya and I were shooting Duniyadari Filmy Style serial. At that time, I told Chaitanya that I wanted to do a play. We were sitting in the hotel and we saw everyone around were engrossed in their mobile. At that moment we came up with the idea of this play and a few months later Chaitanya came to me with this play. The play ‘Googleefy’ belongs to today’s generation, which has become an internet generation. They Google for everything and that has impacted our memory cells as well as our relationships.”
“To sum it up, I’ll say that theatre gives me energy as well as happiness”, concludes Pooja Katurde.
