Adipurush’s ‘Raavan’, Saif Ali Khan, shares clarification

Adipurush, directed by Om Raut, is based on Hindi epic Ramayana. South superstar Prabhas is playing Ram and Kriti Sanon will play Sita. Saif Ali Khan was roped in to play another strong character from the epic, i.e. Raavan. He seems to be liking to put his foot in the mouth because like just during ‘Tanhaji’ he made a controversial statement like, ‘I don’t think there was a concept of India till perhaps the British gave it one’, which was regretfully withdrawn, now too he is embroiled in a controversy over glorifying Raavana for which he has sent a clarification.

During an interview Saif said about Raavana, ‘It is interesting to play a demon king with less strictures in that. But we will make him humane, up the entertainment quotient, justify his abduction of Sita and the war with Ram as revenge for what was done to his sister Surpanakha by Lakshman, who cut off his nose.’
