After successful content driven films, Aanand L Rai gets ready with ‘Haseen Dillruba’!
#HaseenDillruba’s trailer was released yesterday and it has been trending all over social media for its fantastic content and presentation. People are applauding the thrills created by the trailer and the brilliant concept. This goes on to show the genius of #AanandLRai. With Haseen Dillruba, the ace filmmaker once again proves his knack for content-driven cinema.
While Haseen Dillruba gets praises for Aanand L Rai from all corners, here are 5 instances in the past when his Colour Yellow Productions has come up with great content-driven films.
Tanu Weds Manu : Tanu Weds Manu and its sequel Tanu Weds Manu Returns have showcased how a simple story about a couple can be represented so intensely that audiences fall in love with not only the films but with each and every character of the script. From R Madhavan to Kangana Ranaut to Deepak Dobriyal to Eijaz Khan to Swara Bhasker, everyone gave stellar performances in the two Aanand L Rai-directed films.
Raanjhanaa : Aanand L Rai’s Raanjhanaa showed a much more complex love story between two people from opposing religions. Dhanush made a fantastic debut in Bollywood with his film, and his nuanced portrayal made the character worth remembering even today. Sonam Kapoor too broke the typecast of a bubbly girl-next-door and came up with a solid performance.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan : It’s unimaginable that a story about erectile dysfunction, Shubh Mangal Saavdhaan, got so much love from the audiences. Ayushmann Khurrana’s excellent performance and Bhumi Pednekar’s portrayal of a modern-day woman were absolutely fantastic. Aanand L Rai commissioned a sequel with Ayushmann and Jitendra Kumar in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan, which talked about the acceptance of gay couples in rural India. Both stories were super high on the content and that’s what audiences loved.
Manmarziyaan : Manmarziyaan’s story is so relatable and the characters are so real it seems like it’s plucked from your personal life. To add to it, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and Abhishek Bachchan’s superbly layered presentation of the characters made it so much more lovable to watch. Aanand L Rai’s conviction in the story and the precision with which Anurag Kashyap directed the film made this a sleeper hit. Aanand L Rai’s keen eye for music brought on Amit Trivedi for the soundtrack, which became a chartbuster at all music stations.
Tumbbad : Not many Indian horror films get so much praise from the international press as the Sohum Shah-starrer Tumbbad got. Aanand L Rai’s conviction on the story made the film reach the level of success which has never before been seen for any Indian horror film. The film won numerous awards at varied international film festivals and when it was released on OTT in India, it just broke all OTT records that year. Goes on to show how keen an eye for content the makers of the movie had.
With Haseen Dillruba, Aanand L Rai’s Colour Yellow Productions aims to achieve similar success and attain love from audiences in equal amounts.
