Amitabh Bachhan recites his father’s famous poetry, ‘Madhushala’!
This week on #KaunBanegaCrorepati16, hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan on #SonyEntertainmentTelevision, viewers will meet contestant Renuka Patanshetty, a dedicated primary school teacher from Solapur, Maharashtra. For 24 years, Renuka has been dreaming of sitting across from the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, and her dream finally comes true as she makes it to the iconic hotseat. As a teacher of young children, Renuka has found creative ways to make learning fun and memorable. She shares with Mr. Bachchan how she teaches multiplication tables through songs and actions, a method that not only helps her students learn but also makes the process enjoyable.
During their conversation, Renuka, eagerly asks the veteran actor, “Sir, Aap koi bhi gaana ya kavita suna sakte ho?” With his signature warmth, Mr. Bachchan smiles and responds, “Yeh gaana-wana hum thodi gaate hai.” When Renuka mentions the poems of his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan, with a nostalgic smile, AB recalls, “Aise toh bohot saari kavita hai,” and continues, “Ek pankti hai Madhushala ki, jo main aapko bataunga.”
With that, Amitabh Bachchan recites a line from the iconic poem Madhushala, written by his father, Harivansh Rai Bachchan. As the words flow, he explains the deeper meaning behind them: “Hamare jeevan mein yeh ek seekh hai – ‘Jo bhi aap sikhna chahein, jahan bhi aap jaanna chahein, apnana chahein, ek raah pakad lijiye. Usmein bohot sankat aur duvidha aayengi, sangharsh hoga, lekin ek raah pakad kar chaliye, aapko aapki manzil mil jaayegi.’”
Mr. Bachchan then compares Renuka’s unique way of teaching tables through songs to his own childhood and shares a personal memory from his childhood: “Chaar baje subeh babuji tehelne jaate the, humko uthaaya jaata tha. Tehelte tehelte bolte chalo pahad sunao aur jidhar galti kiya, ek chapat padhti thi, tab yaad hone lagti thi.” He chuckles, adding, “Lekin aapka tarika zyada accha hai, bohot sundar!”
