Amol Arvind Bhave

Amol Arvind Bhave, ‘I fell in love with script and decided to produce Peter’!

Amol Arvind Bhave, the director of ‘Peter’, is emotionally attached to the film, despite being the producer.  ‘When this film was offered to me for directing, I fell in love with the script. So much so that I am entering the realm of Production with this artwork. This is an attempt to comment on superstitions and undesirable practices. It has an all new congregation and the story is based on the emotional bond between a little boy and a kid. We have not made any commercial compromises anywhere but we are trying to draw the attention of the society towards the eradication of superstitions and undesirable practices. Aside from professionalism, I have made ‘Peter’ out of social commitment’, said Amol Bhave.
Amol Bhave made his directorial debut with a commercial movies like ‘Patl Tar Ghya’. He said, ‘I actually came to entertainment field As an actor, but writing, directing always fascinated me. It so happened that one day the director of the series I was working on, couldn’t come for the the shooting.  The serial featured big stars like Varsha Usgavkar, Vikram Gokhale. The producer was running up and down as that day’s shoot was getting cancelled. At the time, I volunteered to take reins of a director for a day. It must have been a great job done because soon after that the producer gave me an opportunity to direct a big film like  ‘Patl Tar Ghya’ which had actors like Umesh Kamat, Prasad Oak, Kadambari Kadam, Sharvani Pille, Vijay Chavan etc.’
Peter’s shooting took place in the scenic Chaavan village. The village is situated in a gorge near Nane Ghat and the sun is not seen till 12 noon. The shoot for the film ended before the lockdown and Amol completed the post-production during the lockdown. The reason for releasing this film now is that many Hindi-Marathi films are in the queue for screening and once it starts to feel ‘normal’, all the films will struggle for release and there is a possibility of ‘traffic jam’, says Amol.
Speaking on financial risks, Amol Bhave said, “We did good budgeting and decided to screen the film by calculating digital, satellite, subsidy etc. earnings on the principle of no profit no loss. Earnings from the cinema hals will be considered a bonus, because the our aim and goal is not to make profit. In fact, I would be happy if some of the undesirable practices get curtailed after watching ‘Peter.’”
