Anurag Kashyap lauds Vijay Varma’s solid act in Bamfaad

Gully Boy star Vijay Varma is said to be one of the most promising and finest stars in the Hindi film industry today. A shapeshifter in truest sense, Vijay sure knows how to make you believe and fall in characters with his honest performances. His recent collaboration with ace filmmaker Imtiaz Ali for Netflix series – She Got Everyone Talking.

Striking back in the game yet again, this time around Vijay Varma is making headlines for his act in Ranjan Chandel’s Bamfaad in which he plays the role of an antagonist. In the film, the talented actor is seen essaying a character called Jigar Fareedi, a local goon with political contacts. With the lockdown happening, makers of Bamfaad decided to have a digital release of the film and it’s now streaming on Zee5. An edgy love story set in Allahabad, it is presented by Anurag Kashyap.

All praise for Vijay Varma’s performance in the film, Anurag Kashyap recently said, “Vijay and I started careers with same films like Chittagong and Monsoon Shootout, in which he was the lead and I was the producer. When I saw the first cut of Bamfaad, I immediately called up Vijay and told him that with this role, a new aspect of him has come out. I think it’s one of the best approaches to a performance by an actor. One can feel the power of the character when Jigar Fareedi is there on screen.”

Enjoying his career highs, Vijay is happy that he’s able to entertain the audiences even during the lockdown and keeping the mood lighter with his releases. Other than Anurag Kashyap, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and Mira Nair are also highly impressed with Varma’s performances. Nair had recently written for the actor on social media, “Here your flame is spreading to HOLLYWOOD bhaijaan”
