She also talks about the growth of sports in our country.
“There should be a collaboration among governments, schools and organisations. Schools can integrate physical education into the curriculum, emphasising its importance for holistic development. Governments and organisations can collaborate to build and maintain sports facilities, making them accessible to the public beyond just schools. Governments should have policies that prioritise sports infrastructure and programs, ensuring continuity.
Most importantly recognise and celebrate local athletes and fitness enthusiasts to inspire others,” she says.
On how sports has evolved over the years, she adds, “I can see significant evolution over the years as sports have become highly professionalised, with athletes, coaches, and support staff dedicating their lives to training and competition. The rise of television, streaming platforms, and social media has transformed sports into a massive entertainment industry. There’s a growing emphasis on gender equality and inclusion of athletes from marginalised backgrounds.
The future holds several promising hopes when it comes to sports such as focus on sports can lead to improved public health, reduced lifestyle diseases, and increased fitness awareness. Sports have the power to address social issues, promote equality, and drive positive change in society and towards global unity and cultural exchange too.”
So what’s your favourite sport and why? “Badminton, my favorite sport, is a captivating blend of agility, strategy, and precision. My initial inspiration, Saina Nehwal shows the power of role models transcending sports boundaries. Saina Nehwal’s journey from humble beginnings to international acclaim serves as a testament to the power of hard work and dedication. It was my aspiration to compete in the championship actually but destiny had something else written for me,” she says.
