As the Chhalaang gets ready for release, other entertaining sports films on Amazon Prime
This year’s mood was becoming a perpetual resident on our couches and beds. With the Amazon Original movie Chhalaang sprinting its way closer to remind us of our PT Days and the physical training with a whole lot of fun that we all dearly miss; the film serves as the ultimate motivation for us to jump out of our comfort zones and get those muscles flexing. Now with the slow unlocking making way for us to get some fresh air out in the open with precautions, here are 5 other inspirational movies that you can watch them ahead of the Rajkummar Rao and Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer social comedy, that will help us get our work mode on –
1) CHAK DE! INDIA (Amazon Prime Video)
As SRK celebrated his 55th birthday a few days ago, it took little or no time for our love for the iconic movie to come rushing back to us. Chak De! India is, and always will be, an evergreen film because it de-routes from normal trends. The film not only revolved around the protagonist (Kabir Khan) but also the 11 women players. A film about our national sport – hockey, is irresistibly watchable innumerable times. People will still be biting their nails and get goosebumps when Shah Rukh goes on with his Sattar Mins speech!
2) MARY KOM (Netflix)
This film will make a ziddi couch potato also get up and get their groove on. The portrayal of a woman as a hero and fighter (literal sense) makes it distinctive. The film has it all – the different stages and struggles in a woman’s life to drama and finally a sense of pride. Priyanka Chopra Jonas working hard as Mary Kom, is truly a phenomenal sight.
3) Gold (Amazon Prime Video)
Another historical sports drama that we just can’t miss out on is Gold. The Reema Kagti-directed movie is based on the first national hockey team and their journey to the 1948 Olympics, right after independence. Garnering critical and commercial success, it’s the story of the emotion-laden win against the British through the hard work of its players that hits the nail on the nail to strike the right chord with viewers.
4) Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (Disney+Hotstar)
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was an incredible biographical film that left each and every one of us in awe. The Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra directorial movie left an impact that ignited our sense of nationalism and the motivation of rising from the ashes despite falling hard on the ground. The Farhan Akhtar starrer drama will surely make you run be it as the flying Sikh or in slow motion.
5) Dangal (Netflix)
We all remember the mind-blowing transformation that Aamir Khan went through pre and post Dangal. That alone would make us want to check ourselves in the mirror again. But Dangal is truly in all its essence about the inspirational journey of the Phogat sisters and how they overcome the social stigmas to train for the Common Wealth games. We don’t know about bapu but being lazy is surely hanikarak after watching this film.
So, take a leap of inspiration this Diwali and get set for a hilarious ride of physical training as Chhalaang releases exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on November 13.
