At MIFF Aneesha Madhok wins Best Actress Award for ‘Bully High’!

Actress Aneesha Madhok is on cloud nine since her film Bully High released. The film got an amazing response from the audience and good reviews from critics. Aneesha won Best Actress in the Mumbai International Film Festival. Bully High was in the theatres in the USA right next to the big films like Barbie and Oppenheimer. So, I am really grateful that I am in theatres in America while I sit in India and interview,” she says.

Aneesha plays the role of Maryam, who faces discrimination, and she defeats violence with love. Talking about how she managed the role, she says, “For the role of “Maryam” I went completely by method as I wanted to embody that pain before I even started shooting. The camera reads the eyes and eyes are the window to the soul so for me acting is about being as real as one can be which means not acting.”

She also got the chance to work with Hollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Joseph Baena. “I enjoyed working with Joseph. He is a natural! He carries himself with a lot of confidence and we vibed on set. I am now in India and I’m looking forward to adding value to the craft of movie magic. I’m heavily influenced by Iranian cinema considering I speak Persian and I aim to reflect that subtlety and nuance in the films we shall now see. Art mirrors reality and can impact lives- I’m all for it.
