At RIFF Sayeed Quadri will be awarded the ‘Hasrat Jaipuri Award for Contribution in Cinema’!
The 8th edition of the #RajasthanInternationalFilmFestival (RIFF) will be organised by RIFF Film Club from 25-30th March 2022 and will also celebrate #RajasthanDiwas. #SomendraHarsh, Founder and Festival Director of the Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) stated, “This year writer and lyricist Sayeed Qadri will be awarded the Hasrat Jaipuri Award for Contribution in Cinema at the 8th Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF). The Hasrat Jaipuri Award for Contribution in Cinema is given every year at RIFF in the memory of famous Jaipur born lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri to a personality of the film world who has dedicated his entire life to music.”
Born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Sayeed Quadri is an Indian poet and lyricist. Sayeed Quadri’s career started with director Mahesh Bhatt’s film “Jism”. He wrote some of the best songs of the film Jism, which also became a huge hit. Saeed Qadri considers Sahir Ludhianvi as his inspiration. He has received IIFA, Stardust, MTV and Tata Info Awards for Best Lyricist. Saeed Qadri has delivered one-of-a-kind hits like “Jadu Hai Nasha Hai” (Jism 2003), “Bheegey Hont Tere” (Murder 2004), “Agar Tum Mil Jao” (Zehar 2005) and “Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai” (Gangster 2006). Sayeed Qadri showed new colours of Urdu poetry to the new generation which was well-liked by the youth. His songs have simplicity, depth and touches heart. Saeed Qadri believes that audiences connect with songs when are able to connect with to a personal experience.
Initially, when Sayeed Quadri was disappointed after not getting any work, he returned to Jodhpur after spending a few years in Mumbai. When the responsibilities increased, he became an insurance agent in Jodhpur. But when Mahesh Bhatt came to Jodhpur, he gave him an opportunity in his daughter Pooja Bhatt’s film and his first song came “Aawarapan”. After that, the journey continued. Quadri has written more than 150 songs so far including “Phir Mohabbat Karne Chala Hai Tu” (Murder 2) sung by Arijit Singh, “Woh Lamhe” (Zehar) by Atif Aslam and “Tere Bin Main Yun Kaise Jiyaan” ( Bas Ek Pal), Roop Kumar Rathod’s voice singing “Aankhen Teri” (Anwar) and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s “Jiya Dhadhak Dhadhak Jaye”.
Anshu Harsh, the Managing Trustee of RIFF Film Club said “In this 8th edition of the Rajasthan International Film Festival (RIFF) Short, Documentary, Animation, Feature, Regional, Rajasthani films as well as music albums can be submitted by visiting the website www.riffjaipur.org and also by film freeway. The next deadline to submit the film is 31st January 2022.”
