Beauty Queen Medico, Dr Vatika Patil
It’s usually believed that glamour and academics do not go hand in hand but Vartika Parihar proved it wrong. Vartika was studying medicine and already had beauty pageant titles under her belt. In fact she hails from an ‘engineering’ family. Her parents and brother (an IITan) are engineers but she always had fascination for biology. It explains why she pursued medicine. After studying in Nagpur, Maharashtra’s winter capital, whole her life,Vartika was coaxed into participating in Medical beauty pageants, Miss Sanjeevani and Miss Medico. Incidentally she won both hands down. She was happy as she always wanted to do something on ‘stage’.
In the meanwhile she had married her love Dr Himanshu Patil. She is proud to have a husband like him as he lets her pursue her dreams too. Vartika came to Mumbai for post graduation and later went to London for further studies. While in Mumbai she got a chance to participate in Mrs Maharashtra contest and is a proud owner of the title ‘Mrs Maharashtra’. One thing led to another and Vartika took part in Mrs Gladrags and was in top ten finalists. It didn’t stop there. After coming back to Nagpur she pursued her passion and took part in an International Pageant in Greece. She went on to win Mrs Style Icon and Mrs Beautiful Hair titles. Later Vartika landed in Pune in Mrs West India beauty pageant contest and won it too.
This led to participation in Mrs Universe Beauty Pageant, which was held in Guangzhou, China last year. She laughs saying, our country’s relations were not strained as of now, then. Vartika won ‘Mrs Fabulous Woman, Mrs Universe’ title. Immediately after returning from China, ‘Corona’ was in the news and Vartika jokingly said that she was scared to tell anyone that she has just returned from China. One thing she most missed in China was indian food, because in China one doesn’t get ‘Indian Chinese’ food. (Laughs out aloud)
The long journey of pageantry has been a satisfying and a fun ride for Vartika and being a responsible Medico she concentrated on her main career. But to help new aspirants she runs an academy ‘Dr Vartika’s Confidence Academy’ which grooms enhancing personalities of participants. She feels that it’s her moral responsibility to share her experiences to benefit others. Vartika strongly feels that basic mantra of success is that 85% of one’s financial (which includes name and fame) success is based on one’s personality and 15% is on technical knowledge. Vartika strongly believes that family support is the it most important as one can not survive as an one-man-army. Her parents, in-laws and husband have been hugely supportive and encouraged her to pursue her dreams and spread her wings. Now, for her, being a ‘glamorous’ Doctor helps in reaching out to people, easily.
She has been in the limelight for the longest time but she’s a responsible doctor. During corona virus pandemic times, Vartika, along with her Doctor husband, has religiously been to hospital, every day. In fact she’s unable to cuddle her six year old daughter. She says that this virus is really deadly and dangerous which can take one’s life within a couple of days. Dr Vartika did come in defence of medical staff and hospitals as they have relentlessly nursing corona patients. Dr patil is taking utmost care but is not shunning away from the duties as she feels that it’s her moral responsibility to fight this disease. ‘Corona times has made me more humble’, admits Vartika. When most of the countrymen were busy watching television, web shows etc, Vartika’s lockdown was spent in hospital and she has no regrets about that.
While commenting on depression, Dr Vartika said, ‘With success, failure is the part and parcel of the life. They go hand in hand. Cloud nine situation and failure, rejection should be taken with the same kind of magnitude and royal-ness. And this is where personality counts. All these things are taught in my academy which helps in day to day life too.’ Talking about ‘drugs’ menace Dr Patil opines, ‘I feel that people who has no goal in life may tend to do drugs. Goal oriented people know how to take care of themselves. Two types off people who fall to pray to drugs, alcohol, smoking etc are, maybe, people who long for golden life or are too-successful-too-early in life. Any form of negative addiction is bad. Drugs etc are temporary form of enjoyment. For two minutes pleasure one should not throw away life.’
These days social media has become huge and some find it menacingly dangerous. Vartika feels, ‘As everything has two sides, one should decide which side they want to be on. In fact, social media has provided platforms to many to show their talent and some of them have becomes stars too.’ Being attached to glamour world Vartika is game for acting in films too. If something good comes her way she’ll definitely take up as she likes to experiment with life, though she’s not desperate about it. She’s keen to do a Marathi film, though it’s not her goal.
‘An empowered woman is a professional as well as a homemaker and above all she is a free woman who takes her own decision and makes her own choices’, is the answer Dr Vartika Patil gave in finale of ‘Mrs Maharashtra’ contest, which she won, defines her multifaceted personality.
