Because of a ‘Pakistan’ connection, Rahat Kazmi changed his name to Rahhat Shah Kazm!

This internationally acclaimed filmmaker was forced to change his name because of the similarity of his name with a Pakistani actor. Over the years we have seen many celebrities changing their names for number of reasons. Rahhat Shah Kazmi, previously known as Rahat Kazmi, is known globally for critically acclaimed films like Lihaaf, Mantostaan, Lines, and Am I Next.

Rahhat is a filmmaker who has been a reason for many actors, or we can say actresses, to make their names internationally after working in his films. And the man who has been instrumental in giving others their names has taken the decision to change his own name.

Yes, you read it right. He has changed his name recently, but not on the instructions of an astrologer or numerology expert, as most of the filmy people follow astrology, numerology. But Rahhat has a different reason for it, which was actually creating serious problems for him.

In fact, his name resembles that of a senior actor from Pakistan, and this had created a lot of confusion for Rahat. Whenever someone searches his name on Google, they find mixed information, and the first thing that appears about Rahhat is that he is a Pakistani actor, which is wrong information.

Speaking on the same, Rahhat said, “The resemblance of my name with Pakistan’s Mr. Rahat Kazmi has created a lot of confusion for me, and I guess the same will be with him too. Many people think that I am from Pakistan and that I am 76 years old, which is not true, I have tried several times for Wikipedia, but because the other person already has a Wikipedia with the same name, my name and information are not accepted! Even after so many films and so many news articles about me in international media, whenever someone searches my name, they don’t find appropriate information about me”.

He further added that the reason he changed his name from Rahat Kazmi to Rahhat Shah Kazm is that his sir name is Shah and his father and grandfather always used Shah sir names.

On the professional front Rahhat Shah Kazmi’s two important films, Country of Blinds and Kaya Palat, with Hina Khan and Helly Shah, are in post-production and expected to release this year.
