Bihar Cop Made To Do Sit-Ups After He Stops Government Officer For Checking During Lockdown
Patna: A government officer in Bihar’s Araria district was stopped by a police officer for checking over the ongoing lockdown. The policeman was made to do sit-ups in full public view and was even forced to apologise to the government official.
The policeman’s fault was that he dared to stop the vehicle of a government official. A video of the incident has now gone viral on social media.
The incident took place on Monday at Bairgachi Chowk when Manoj Kumar, District Agriculture Officer’s (DAO) vehicle was stopped by Ganesh Tatma, a police chaukidar, for checking.
The cop’s actions infuriated the government official so much that he threatened to send him to jail, had he not been is a hurry because of a video conferencing meeting.
“I am in hurry because of a video conferencing meeting otherwise I would have sent you to jail,” Manoj Kumar is seen shouting on the video.
However, the shocking part of the 18-second video comes when a senior police officer who was also present at the checkpost seemed to be fearful of the government officer and sided with him.
Chaukidar Ganesh Tatma was then punished and asked to hold his ears and do sit-ups on the spot with other police personnel looking on. He was also asked to apologise to the DAO.
“You have stopped the DAO for checking but this is my insult as I am the in-charge of the checkpost,” the senior police officer shouted.
Araria Superintendent of Police, Dhurat Sayali has taken cognizance of the matter and has initiated a probe.
