Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain

Binaiferr Kohli’s ‘BJGPH’ turns six, team hopes to continue making people smile!

If you are a sucker for comedy and enjoy watching TV then you have definitely not missed out on Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain (BJGPH). Over the years, the audience have given immense love to the show and the characters, Angoori Bhabi, Anita Bhabi, and their husbands Manmohan and Vibhuti respectively. The popular sitcom recently completed six years and producer Binaiferr Kohli hopes to continue making people smile for the next ten years.

“Falling short of words to express how content we feel with all the love and praises the viewers have showered on the show all these years. I must admit the creative team, the actors and everyone else behind the camera have been working really hard. My husband Sanjay Kohli (producer and creative director) is known as the king of comedy for no reason. He along with Shashank, Manoj, Raghuveer, Harshada (all a part of the creative team) makes for a superb team,” she says.

The show has won many awards and been enjoying good TRP for the longest time. According to Kohli it’s the audience who have made it an iconic show, sort of a landmark in the TV industry. Talking about how the team stays motivated, Kohli shares, “We love, respect and trust each other. Sanjay and I adore our team. I think I have the most fabulous team. They are like family. Everyone is allowed to give inputs and ideas and we all work together. We aren’t separate from each other. Every milestone the show has crossed happened only because of the team. Every achievement means it belongs to the whole team… We enjoy working and have a lot of fun on the sets too.”

Interestingly, a spin off from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai! is the popular comedy Happu Ki Ultan Paltan that has clocked two years already. “We’re happy that this spin off too worked. This spin off concept and the show doing well is a rare combination. The show has a different kind of story, language, cast and presentation. Manoj Santoshi is a magician.  The creative team of this show is fabulous too,” adds Kohli. It’s the toughest to make people laugh. Apart from the strong script, one needs the right actors to portray the parts. “It’s more like a life risking job to choose the cast. You can never go wrong with that or your show might not work. We need to put a lot of effort into it. And it does become difficult when we have to replace actors, but we always keep ourselves ready,” says the show maker.

Recently, Nehha Pendse was trolled for her performance as Anita bhabi. She has replaced actor Soumya Tandon, who played the same character earlier. Mention this to Kohli and she adds, “Soumya did the show for five years and adored by the audience. So when you replace someone in this kind of A situation the job becomes all the more difficult. But Neha has been doing a fabulous job. She isn’t a mimicry artist, she brings her own nuances to the table. She is good actor, extremely attractive and for a reason we have chosen her after auditioning 100 of girls. She is extremely dedicated and comes all the way from Nariman Point to Naigaon to the sets. Had we both not been convinced about this, none of us would have put so much effort.”
