Bipasa Basu and Varun Dhawan’s lockdown entertainment, ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’

As the entire nation was under lockdown, everyone was staying indoors, including film stars. The source of time-pass or entertainment was small screen serials, as the big screens were closed for human safety. Many film star’s and their families’, including Bipasa Basu and Varun Dhawan, lockdown entertainment, was comedic serial ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain’, which made them forget the pandemic blues.

Rohitashv Gour has tickled our funny bones with his perfect comic timing in shows like “Lapataganj” and “Hum Aapke Hain In-Laws”. Currently seen as Manmohan Tiwari in Edit II’s “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!”, the actor admits that though they are working in a comedy show, the atmosphere has become quite depressing because of the pandemic.

He confessed that the situation has become much better now, but initially, the entire cast and crew was a little apprehensive. “When we first started to shoot for ‘Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!’, it was pretty scary initially, it has become a bit better now. Everyone was trying to keep a distance from each other. Slowly, things are getting back on track. But yes, I must admit it’s not the same happy and energetic environment on the set. It’s a completely different atmosphere now, earlier we all used to have so much fun together, that has gone missing now,” he said.

He further added, “We all are shooting, but that joy is missing. The pandemic has created a very depressing atmosphere. But fortunately, our scenes and dialogues are so well-written and even the actors are such brilliant performers that they make every scene look beautiful. Because it’s a comedy show, we don’t have to do many retakes and it all comes out beautifully. However, I will admit that because of the current Covid situation everything feels different.”

He is hopeful that soon everything will be back to normal and said, “That fun and happiness which surrounded us is not there anymore. But I am keeping myself optimistic and believe that this too shall pass.” In 2016, a special segment of the show was started called “Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain Shanivaar Special” in which celebrities visited the sets. Rohitashv recalls meeting Bipasha Basu, who came on the show with her husband Karan Singh Grover, and said, “Bipasha Basu’s mother loves our show. Bipasha told us this when she had visited the sets with Karan. We did an episode with them. She was so excited to shoot with us and she even complimented us by saying that it’s very rare to see such good TV actors whose comic timing is just bang on.”

Not just Bipasha and her family, Varun Dhawan and his dad David Dhawan are an ardent follower of the show as well.
