BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi Transferred To Urban Development; Iqbal Chahal Becomes The New BMC Chief
Mumbai: The number of coronavirus cases in Mumbai has seen an exponential increase over the last few days. As per the data released on May 7, 2020, the number of COVID-19 cases crossed the 11,000-mark in the city. Keeping this in mind, sources close to the Mumbai Municipal affairs have said the government has decided to change powers in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. As per reports, BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi has been transferred as additional CS in the urban development department. Iqbal Chahal, who serves as the UDD principal secretary becomes the new BMC Commissioner. The decision was taken amidst the increasing coronavirus cases in the city.
Further, Relief and Rehabilitation Secretary Kishorraje Nimbalkar has also been transferred. He will now be the new Public Works Department (PWD) Secretary and will replace Manoj Saunik, who will now serve as Additional CS in the Finance Department.
Besides them, Ashwini Bhide, who was previously the Managing Director (MD) of Mumbai Metro Rail Corp has been appointed as Additional Municipal Commissioner in the BMC. Jayashree Bhoj, who was previously in the position will now be the MD of Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation
Sanjeev Jaiswal, former Thane Municipal Commissioner has been appointed as the new additional commissioner of BMC. He was waiting for the posting for a long time now and will be replacing Abasaheb Jarhad, who will now serve as the Relief and Rehabilitation secretary.
