Kerala boy, #Zamroodh who has been termed as the ‘#SouthIndianSuperstar’ on #SonyEntertainmentTelevision’s #IndiasBestDancer2 is known for his freestyle, semi-classical, Bollywood, lyrical and hip-hop dance styles. Winning the hearts of the judges aka ENT (Entertainment, Newness and Technique) specialists – Malaika Arora, Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapur, the energetic dancer who is known for giving twists to each of his dance acts along with choreographer Sonali Kar has made it a long way on the show. Entered as just another boy during the auditions, he soon went on to win the hearts of the judges followed by that of India. With his impeccable dancing skills, he has made his way to the Best 5 in the show. In our conversation with Zamroodh, here’s what he had to say about his journey and the most anticipated ‘Ultimate Finale’ that is set to go on air on 9th January 2022.
You’re one of the Best 5 finalists on India’s Best Dancer Season 2, elaborate on your journey so far and how are you preparing for the finale? : It’s a great feeling to be able to make it this far. The journey on India’s Best Dancer has been just like a rollercoaster ride with a lot of ups, down, learning, laughter and more. Getting selected in the Best 5 was a huge opportunity for me and my family. From coming to Mumbai to auditioning of the show, being a part of the Best Baarah to now the Best 5, the journey has been surreal! It feels like a dream. Talking about our preparations, all of us used to practice together, and help each other out with different style and moves. I have a couple of acts and have been practicing day and night to give my best.
Tell us about your technique and how did you incorporate the same in each of your performances? : When it comes to technique, my style is freestyle, semi-classical, Bollywood, lyrical and hip-hop. While this may seem like a lot, when it comes to incorporating the technique, Sonali and I have always worked on various dance forms by trying out multiple variations in our performance. Sonali always makes sure to give a unique touch to the dance. Open free style dancing is always challenging and we love experiment new styles.
Many eminent personalities from the entertainment industry graced the show, can you tell us some of the best moments you experienced with them? : I am grateful to all the celebrities guests who have graced the show and witnessed our performances. When it comes to the best moment, Every time I would perform it would be the best moment of my life. It’s only because of your faith and love that I’ve been able to make it this far My gratitude and love to every one of you for your constant support.
What do you want to say about your choreographer Sonali Kar : Sonali is one of the greatest chorographers and now, a friend that I have ever met. She has always been with me throughout and extended her support always. She is so perfect in her dance and because of that, I have been able to learn so much and improve myself in every performance. It has been amazing sharing the stage with her. Offset also she a fun-loving person and takes care of me a lot. I am thankful to her for being my choreographer on this show.
Tell us something about the judges – Malaika Arora, Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapur and how did they keep the motivation level high? : The three judges – . Geeta ma, Malaika ma’am and Terence sir have been motivating me with their comments through and through. However, when one special moment that I recall is when celebrated icon Asha Bhosle ji sang a malyali song for me! I was so overwhelmed, it still brings tears to my eyes!
The Any message for your fans? : I am highly thankful to everyone who has appreciated my performance and showered me with absolute love and support. I am highly obliged to everyone who has made this journey victorious. I love and respect all those who have encouraged me and thank this prestigious stage of India’s Best Dancer 2.
