Chitrangda Singh explores the traditional textile art of Kolkata

Red Chillies Entertainment and Sujoy Ghosh’s upcoming production, Bob Biswas has been inspiring headlines as its first schedule rolls in Kolkata. Headlining the film along with Abhishek Bachchan, actress Chitrangda Singh is making the most of her stopover in the City of Joy. A huge admirer of authentic handloom sarees, the Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi actress took the opportunity to explore the local markets of Kolkata. Knowing that West Bengal is the home of the traditional textile art, Chitrangda traversed the length and breadth Gariahat and Hatibagan, which are the street shoppers’ paradise in the cultural capital.

Says Chitrangda, “I absolutely love the handloom craft of Bengal. It was one of the main reasons why I was excited about being stationed in Kolkata. I bought sarees fashioned from Murshidabadi silk , Tussar silk and the famous Baluchari saree.” The spin-off movie that the actress is shooting currently for, tells the backstory of Bollywood’s rare assassin from the National Award-winning movie, Kahaani. Although it is revealed that Bachchan essays the title role, Singh’s role is still under wraps. Given that the actress has always chosen films that take the cause of cinema forward, there is quite a bit of mystery surrounding her character in the upcoming Diya Annapurna Ghosh directorial.

Apart from Bob Biswas, the other professional commitment that is in the pipeline for the actress is her upcoming production, Soorma 2.
