Choreographer Ankita Maity has grooved, krumped and popped her way to success!
#AnkitaMaity is a young successful celebrity choreographer and an entrepreneur inspiring young girls to follow their passion for dance. She has directed two dance sequences for #AltBalaji’s Cartel, one with #MonicaDogra and #SamirSoni and the other one with Tannishtha Chatterjee. Her upcmong projects also include Euphoria’s new album song and Netflix show ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’.
Recipient of Best Choreographer Award for the 13th Indian Telly Awards, Winner of Best Indie song of the year at Mirchi Music Awards (2020) for music video ‘Jaan Meri’, Ankita Maity has grooved, krumped and popped her way to success. She has inspired several young girls to follow their passion for dance. A professionally trained dancer, Ankita holds her expertise in blending the classical & folk , with the modern & contemporary. She is known for her signature dance moves and sizzling dance numbers.
She has been the dance director for movies Kanpuria, Rizwan the film , Assisted for Padmavati & Bajirao Mastani to name a few. She has also showcased her excellence in television shows like Bepannah, CID, Tere Galiya, Dil Dosti Dance & many more . She was the Choreographer for Raju Shrivastav and his wife in Nach Baliye and Mantra mugdh & Talat Aziz in Jhalak Dikhlaja.
While it’s a joy to see our favourite celebrities ace those complex moves, there’s a whole lot of training that goes behind it. Although Ankita calls the shots behind the camera, she is an indispensable part of the filmmaking process on the sets.
Ankita comes from a humble family with no Godfather or mentor to help her carve a niche for herself “Back in the days, dance was not a career option, it was just a hobby. But for me Dance has been a way of life. I didn’t have to deliberate on it for it to become a career, I just swayed my way through the ongoing of my life. Both my mother and father have been my constant supporters.”
She has introduced Bollywood to different forms and styles. An example of woman empowerment, she stands strong in a male dominated industry “It is difficult for a woman in every field. Problems like multiply for us. However with focus, hard work, determination and most importantly the right attitude nothing is impossible.”
