Daroga Happu Singh tastes fire-paan courtesy Dabbang Dulhania, Rajesh!
When people travel to a new city, they often return with memories and experiences of unique things they did. A similar scenario unfolded for #GeetanjaliMishra, known for her portrayal of #DabbangDulhaniaRajesh, and her on-screen husband #DarogaHappuSingh (Yogesh Tripathi) in &TV’s gharelu comedy #HappuKiUltanPaltan. Recently, the on-screen Jodi visited Indore and Ujjain during the Mahashivratri festivities to seek blessings at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple, coinciding with the successful completion of their show’s five years. While in Indore, they visited the famous Chhapan Dukan to enjoy some delicious food, including the viral fire paan. Although it was Yogesh’s first time trying it, Geetanjali introduced him to this unique digestive aid after he indulged in various foods and complained of overeating.
Geetanjali Mishra, essaying Dabbang Dulhania Rajesh, says, “In a city renowned for its culinary prowess, one cannot resist venturing out to indulge in its diverse array of cuisines. Accompanied by my onscreen husband, Daroga Happu Singh Ji, the experience proved immensely delightful. We enjoyed a variety of dishes, including traditional favourites like poha and jalebi, as well as unique offerings like kulhad pizza and aloo tikki, fully immersing ourselves in the diverse culinary landscape. However, our culinary expedition would have felt incomplete without the iconic fire paan. While I had previously tasted the fire-paan, Yogesh Ji’s excitement was palpable. Despite his initial doubts, I convinced him to join me in the experience. To my surprise, he not only tried one but consumed three fire-paans in succession, much to my astonishment. The vendor ensured each paan was a delightful treat, skillfully blending ingredients like slaked lime, areca nut, sweetened gulkand, fennel seeds, coconut, and spices. As the flames extinguished, the sensation of crunch and explosion of flavours, followed by a warm tingle from the spices, enveloped our senses. For any paan lover, this culinary escapade is an absolute must-try.”
Yogesh Tripathi, aka Daroga Happu Singh, added, “One of the most remarkable features of my character is his oil-slicked hair that perfectly twirls on his forehead and his goofy paan-stained grin that highlights his atypical moustache. The funny potbellied Daroga Happu Singh (Yogesh Tripathi) has made viewers laugh like none other over the years. I do like chewing paan occasionally after meals, and I make it a point to try different variants whenever I am travelling to different cities. While Banarsi Paan has held a special place in my heart thus far, trying the fire paan in Indore was an equally delightful experience. Admittedly, I felt apprehensive about placing that flaming paan in my mouth, but my Dabbang Dulhania Rajesh, by my side, offered the same kind of convincing as she does on our show, and I took the plunge. The first taste was nerve-wracking, yet the exhilarating sensation of consuming that fiery paan encouraged me to indulge in two more within an hour. It was a memorable and enjoyable experience. In addition to the fiery paan, I explored a lot of local dishes and even packed an assortment of namkeens from the city to share with my family.”
