Doctor Doctor’s Prathamesh Parab says, ‘Dressing up as a woman is not as easy as it sounds’

The corona virus pandemic has played havoc throughout the world. The entertainment industries, including, Indian entertainment industry, were closed for quite some time but since the phased out unlock procedures, things are on the way to normal. Since Unlock started, viewers have been eager to see new movies. Recognising this interest of the audience, Marathi cinema has also turned to new mediums. The first Marathi movie ‘Doctor Doctor’ has been released on 30th October on ‘‘Zeeplex’.  Produced by Kiran Kashinath Kumawat, Gauri Sagar Pathak and Suraj Dagde-Patil, the film is directed by Pritam Patil. The film’s lead actor Prathamesh Parab had a chat with Cine Buster. Here are some of the excerpts.
You and Parth Bhalerao are working together for the first time. What do you have to say about it?
First of all Perth and I first met at the premiere of the movie ‘Killa’. I really liked his work. I told him that we should work together sometime in the future. ‘Doctor Doctor’ fulfilled this dream of working with Parth. I got a huge satisfaction of working with a talented actor like him.
Tell about your role and your tuning with Parth.
The audience will really enjoy to their heart’s content because both of us known for our comic timing. The persona I have portrayed in this film is very much contrasting to my earlier roles. I play Keshav who is a studious type and is good in studies. Pushkar, played by Parth, and Keshav get together in the movie and magic starts to unfold hilariously. It has to be experienced on screen to enjoy it. and there are many stories that will make you laugh incessantly.
What can you say about the songs in the film?
The songs in this movie are story-based. ‘Yari hi …’ is my favorite song. This song is based on our friendship. In it the audience will get to see our bromance. ‘Mazach Pahije …’ is a commercial song, very well written and composed. When I first heard this song, I felt like dancing and partying. We had a lot of restrictions while shooting this song after the lockdown, but everyone was enjoying shooting the song.
Any interesting anecdotes while shooting…..?
Watching Parth and my chemistry, Focus Puller, compared us with Ashok Saraf and Laxmikant Berde. It was a huge compliment while it added everyone remembers those legends when they see both of us perform. We had tears in our eyes when they complimented us in this fashion. Another interesting thing is, Parth used to vanish from the set for for 3–40 minutes and quietly used to come back as if nothing has happened. It’s still a mystery where he used to go in that period.
You have an interesting impersonation in the film.please tell us about it.
I had to dress up in a female get up. Mind you, dressing up as a woman is not as easy as it sounds.  There is a huge responsibility.  Neatness is very important in shaping a woman’s personality.  Working with high heeled sandals, girls’ clothes, all the accessories and a purse in hand, you have to strike the right balance between body language and acting. That’s why I think this personality line is more conducive to acting than the roles I have played so far.
