Florian Hurel is worried about survival of daily wagers during Janta Curfew!
The unprecedented rise in Covid-19 cases has led to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announcing curfew-like restrictions for the next 15 days in the state. Starting on 8 pm tonight (April 14), the strict restrictions on public movement will be in effect till May 1, 7 am. TV and film shoots will also be on hold. Hair and makeup artist #FlorianHurel voices concern given the present scenario, however, there’s reason why he has a difference in opinion regarding these lockdown-like restrictions.
“Yes, we all need to be more careful and should not behave as if the pandemic is over. It’s not, in fact the situation is worse this time. So yes we need to follow precautions and take extra care of the elders at home,” he says adding that he doesn’t agree with these severe restrictions on public movements.
“How are daily wagers, small-time business owners, etc supposed to earn a living? We have already lost a lot last year, somehow we have been trying to be back on our feet but again the same thing is happening. How are people supposed to be at home when they don’t have the money to fulfill their basic needs?” he questions.
Hurel shares that in France, “everyone is getting vaccinated with the Indian vaccine”, but there is no explanation why citizens of Maharashtra, in fact, Indians in general, are not getting it due to shortage of supply.
“I am genuinely feeling upset about how we are being treated. It’s unfair that we don’t get enough vaccines in India and now this lockdown-like situation again we will go without any financial help. I am not against the government but we have to understand what a normal citizen requires. People are dying of hunger, many have gone jobless. We now have about 17 employees, their salary, our taxes all needs to be paid. How long can we continue paying all these if we don’t have an income? The entire situation is both confusing and scary,” he ends.
