Florian Hurel says that ‘make-up’ is a skilled job
For someone who is not good at makeup or hair styling, a YouTube tutorial might come to their rescue once in a while, but French celebrity hair and makeup stylist Florian Hurel feels that it’s not all good as it seems. He said that it’s a “skilled job”.
“The Internet has democratised the beauty world and there is a lot of nonsense out there. You may be able to do good makeup once but won’t be able to repeat the same twice. It’s again a skilled job,” he said.
He feels that even the most basic thing like the wrong shade can ruin an entire look. He said, “While doing makeup, I feel people generally go wrong with the products or the shades. Many a time they even use the wrong texture for the right purpose.”
“I feel everyone should know the basics of makeup like how to use the right foundation or the right way of doing a kajal and a mascara,” he added.
Florian has been in the industry for over a decade and has worked with the likes of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan, and Sara Ali Khan, to name a few. He asserted that if someone really wants to excel in this field a professional makeup and hair course is a must.
“Being a professional for 16 years now and having done four years of study before being certified, I would highly advise everyone to study the job. Being a professional hair and makeup artist isn’t a time pass but a full-time job and requires self-investment,” he said.
“People do mostly think that it is an easy job and looks very simple to get into but no it’s not! You got to be knowledgeable and understand everything about it before being called a good professional,” Florian signed off.
