Hair and makeup artist Florian Hurel says, ‘Keep your look simple and defining this festive season’!

This season it’s all about comfort, says #FlorianHurel. Helping fashionistas know the dos and don’ts to grab all the attention this festive time, the hair and makeup artist shares a few of his important tips.

“For the festive season, while people tend to get ready and overdo it by putting a lot of makeup on, I would advise them to keep it simple and defining. Make sure to hydrate their skin and moisturise on a daily basis before and after makeup. Try working out the look with a beautiful base and avoid choosing a lighter shade. The foundation should match your skin tone. Coming to the eyes and lips, decide which one you would like to highlight, but do not highlight both. Strong eyes go with soft nude lips, while strong lip colours go with a neutral eye liner and soft smudge effect. Hair can be open, soft bend curls or one can also opt for the tight-up look. Don’t try going too voluminous, it tends to make one look bigger,” he adds.

Given that festive wear in India is mostly colourful and bright, it is quite challenging to do hair and makeup that gel well with the outfit. “But it’s a nice thing too. Nude look goes well with colourful outfits. Keep it simple, chic yet elegant,” says Florian, who has worked with the likes of Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Tamannah Bhatia and many others.

For those who enjoy trying new shades and makeup, he suggests a few things that they should keep in mind. “First decide what you exactly want to buy, and what your needs are. Go for cream-based products that are easier to apply with your fingers and blend well into the skin. Also remember, makeup won’t harm your skin only if you use quality products and follow a proper skincare routine. You could also opt for night masks as when you rest, it’s the best time to repair your skin as well. Hydration is the key, you need to allow your skin to breathe,” he adds.
