Hair and makeup stylist Nilam Kenia advices to avoid makeup as much as possible under the mask!
Hair and makeup stylist Nilam Kenia says that she loves doing what she does. While many they feel that decking up actresses from tinsel town can be quite confrontational as they might not always like what you do, Nilam, who has worked with the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Sara Ali Khan, says that such is not the case. “The journey has been very exciting and also there is a lot to learn as you meet so many people on work. Generally, when these actresses have to get their hair and makeup done, it is discussed with them in advance, along with the stylist so there is no chance of confrontation. Every look done is decided with all of us involved, including the actress,” she says.
Meanwhile, due to the pandemic, we are all wearing masks and Nilam says that we must keep makeup to a minimal under these masks. “Wearing masks can create havoc for the skin as the skin can’t breathe. So, I would say avoid makeup as much as possible under the mask. If you still need to wear makeup then use the waterproof ones and let it settle before putting on your mask so that it doesn’t transfer to the mask. But most importantly remove your makeup thoroughly at the end of the day,” she says.
Nilam also has a few more make up tips. “Do not try everything directly on your face first and avoid changing makeup brands, if the ones you are using suit you. Also, look out for good brands and clean your face thoroughly at the end of the day,” she says.
The hair and makeup expert says that those who want to enter her field must make sure to be patient as they try to make it big in this industry. “The message I would give any budding makeup artist hairstylist would be to have patience and work hard, never get complacent and also assist, assist, assist. What you learn through assisting you will never learn through any institution. It is a process you won’t get things overnight,” she says.
