Rating: * 1/2
Grippingly Intense!
The film sets out to chronicle the important events in Haseena Aapa’s life. As expected, most of it is about Dawood and how they form a good team. Though she loses her close relatives, including her husband and son, she does not flee from Mumbai. It is all about how both, Haseena and Dawood flaunt their love for Mumbai and their people and dive into the world of crime to protect their family interests.
PLUS POINTS
The screenplay takes us through headline-making events: the shooting of Dawood’s brother Sabir Kaskar, the JJ Hospital shoot-out, the riots of 1992 and the ensuing bomb blasts of 1993.
MINUS POINTS
It is a dreary and monotonous courtroom drama in which the protagonist is hauled before the law to defend herself against grave criminal charges. The story moves back and forth from the session’s court magistrate’s hearing to piece together the life of the only lady don the Mumbai underworld has ever seen till now. While Shraddha Kapoor sticks out like a sore thumb and fails to lend credence to her role, Siddhanth kapoor does not have the screen presence to play Dawood
VERDICT
It is sheer a waste of time to sit through a film like this which comes in the wake of Daddy with shoddy direction by Apoorva Lakhia who floundered the last time with Zanjeer.
