“I felt absolutely free and enabled to slip into my role as Maya Roy”, actor Medha Rana!
Newcomer #MedhaRana is estatic about her new web series #LondonFiles where she got to work with #ArjunRampal and #PurabKohli.
Congratulations on your debut project London files. So, How was it working with Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli?
Oh it was wonderful working with Arjun sir, I have so much respect and admiration for both him and Purab ever since the 10 year old me watched Rock on! I was very excited and encouraged to be cast alongside them in my debut. I do however admit that I was a bit nervous. But the moment I met them both the ice instantly broke as they made it very easy and comfortable. There’s so much that I learnt on set from my co actors! Especially Arjun, he’s very available as a co actor which makes it a very fun and collaborative process. Even with Purab, the first scene we shot was the one in which my character infamously gets slapped, but he ensured to make me feel super chill. Purab would keep cracking dad jokes in the middle of takes, he’s the best.
How did you bag this role?
I auditioned for this role. That is the basic process for selection for actors. I had sent a self taped audition at first which got me a shortlist , followed by multiple auditions at the office with the director, before which they finally selected me.
Did you feel any kind of pressure shooting among senior costars ?
I’m not sure about pressure, but of course as a newcomer when you’re working with such accomplished actors there’s a certain expectation that one sets for themselves. But frankly speaking, it was very easy to get into the flow of things thanks to the director and the entire crew. I felt absolutely free and enabled to slip into my role as Maya Roy, and then I just saw them as their characters.
What is your dream role?
Wonder woman
An actor you would like to work with ahead ?
Shah Rukh Khan, Naseeruddin shah, Anushka Sharma.
Any upcoming projects you are working on?
I worked on a docu drama (documentary) called Dancing on the grave, directed by Patrik Graham which is going to be out on amazon very soon. It’s based on a real life murder. And I am currently working on something very exciting that I don’t have the liberty to speak about at the moment.
