IBD3’s Terence Lewis reminisces about his debut film, Aamir Khan starrer ‘Lagaan’!
This weekend, get ready to enjoy the monsoon as #SonyEntertainmentTelevision’s homegrown dance reality show, #India’sBestDancer3, will be celebrating the rains in its ‘Baarish Special’ episode. The dance acts will make everyone relive their childhood days and the innocent memories associated with this season. Joining in the fun will be popular TV stars – #ShivangiJoshi and #KushalTandon, who will be promoting their upcoming romance drama, ‘#Barsatein–MausamPyaarKa’, which premiers on 10th July.
But it will be contestant Vipul Kandpal and choreographer Pankaj Thapa’s enthralling act showcasing the journey of farmers that wins the hearts of the judges. Their breathtaking dance on the soulful melody “Ghanan Ghanan” from the iconic film ‘Lagaan’, compelled choreographer Terence Lewis to take a trip down memory lane, recalling his debut as a choreographer.
Reflecting on the performance, Terence Lewis expressed his admiration for Vipul, saying, “Vipul, you possess the flexibility of clay, as you effortlessly adapt to any dance form. Your genuine personality shines through. Vipul, you don’t dance for the sake of choreography but you strive to convey your passion, which is a true mark of any intelligent performer. The way both Vipul and Pankaj utilized the stage was beautiful. You ventured into different dance forms, and emotionally, you delivered the essence of the song flawlessly. It brings me immense joy to see the song justified through your act, Vipul. You are truly a star.”
Recounting his experience shooting for ‘Lagaan’, Terence Lewis shared, “Choreographing ‘Lagaan’ marked a significant milestone in my career. It was not only my first film as a choreographer, but I also had the privilege of witnessing the meticulous creation of music by the legendary AR Rahman. The thought and vibration behind the song were astounding, perfectly capturing the anticipation and joy of the first rain. The way the camera moved and the characters covered the stage – it was an unparalleled experience.”
