In ‘Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’ serial Babasaheb to occupy his abode ‘Rajgruha’

An important historical event will be shown in Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Mahamanavachi Gauravgatha, serial on Star Pravah, and that is Babasaheb’s entry into the palace at Dadar. This building is an important part of Babasaheb’s life.  Once again, the audience will be able to experience exactly how he lived in this building As the story unfolds. After a month and a half of hard work, an exact replica of the palace has been erected. Art director Ajit Dandekar has set up the exact set of Rajgruha. Before erecting this set, he visited the Rajgruha at Dadar and studied it’s historical structure. Replicating the palace was a big challenge but the teams of Star Pravah and Dr Babasaheb serial, decided to take up this challenge and brought it to reality.

Babasaheb’s early days were very difficult. After becoming a barrister, he started practicing law. And in a short time, his reputation as a brilliant lawyer spread. After 1930, his financial situation improved. At that time, Babasaheb’s office was near Damodar Hall in Parel. The number of people coming home was increasing. The house in ‘Poybawadi’ was falling apart and because of constraint to store Books he decided to build a new house for himself.

While constructing his own building, Babasaheb had prepared a study plan on how to have a library in it.  He also said that we should have the features of the best libraries seen abroad. In that structure, they had built two blocks of three rooms on the ground floor of the palace. He had arranged for his family to stay in those two blocks. On the first floor of the Rajgruha, Dr. Babasaheb had arranged for his favorite library as well as his beloved library and office.  He had prepared the plan himself and arranged it accordingly. The actual construction of the building started in January 1931. The construction of Rajgruha was completed in the year 1933 and Babasaheb along with his family came to live in his beautiful and spacious building called Rajgruha.

This building, sanctified by the presence of Babasaheb, still stands in the mind. Once again, these steps of history were taken by Dr.  Babasaheb Ambedkar will be experienced in this serial.
