In TKSS, celebrity Chef Sanjeev Kapoor talks about how he entered the field of cooking!
#Indiankitchens have always prided themselves but the tadka of different cuisines was added when #SanjeevKapoor started sharing his cooking secrets in the year 1993. Since then, Sanjeev Kapoor has garnered quite the name and fame when it comes to food, especially cooking. #TheOGChef who taught not only India but the world how to cook graced the sets of #SonyEntertainmentTelevision’s #TheKapilSharmaShow with his “chef mates” #KunalKapur and #RanveerBrar. In conversation with his guests, host Kapil Sharma asked his guests how they were inspired to be chefs, who they watched to get inspired and their answers are definite “food for thought”!
Ranveer Brar pitched in at this question and said, “Fact of the matter is that we watched him (Sanjeev Kapoor), growing up but we don’t know who he watched!” Kapil Sharma then turned the question towards Sanjeev Kapoor and asked him, who he watched growing up to be inspired to be a chef, and he replied, “When I entered this field, that time, nobody from my family had ever been to restaurants. I did not even know what the word ‘Chef’ meant or how it was pronounced. In the house where I used to live, we used to order dosa, samosa, jalebi from Punjab Sweet House. The Sardarji who would cook there would make us dosas and we did not know what or who a ‘Chef’ is.”
Kunal Kapur then recounted his own story when his grandmother would taunt him that if he would not study well, he would become a ‘Halwai’, an ironic statement on his actual future. He then said how one should be proud to say or be a ‘Halwai’ because the transliteration of the word in English, is Chef.
Tune into The Kapil Sharma Show, this Saturday, at 9:30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
