Ittefaq

Producers: Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar and Abhay Chopra
Director: Abhay Chopra
Star cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha, Akshaye Khanna
Genre: Mystery
Rating:**

ILLOGICAL!
A remake of the 1969 Rajesh Khanna-Nanda thriller is outdated and illogical. It begins with NRI author Vikram Sethi (Siddharth Malhotra) who is accused of murdering his wife Katherine (the CEO of the publication house of his latest paperback) taking refuge at the house of housewife Maya (Sonakshi Sinha), who urges him to leave. When she escapes to call the cops, to his intrigue, Vikram finds himself next to a dead body — that of Maya’s husband.

PLUS POINT
If Ittefaq is worth something, it would be for Akshaye Khanna’s cynical cop, who packs in his one-liners sharply and it would not be wrong to state that he is the only saving grace of the whodunit.

MINUS POINTS
If Sidharth Malhotra can experience pain, he surely doesn’t let it surface on his face, as the shattered Vikram who’s accused of double murder. Sonakshi Sinha interprets her layered character by throwing on a housecoat over her negligee but fails to twitch her acting muscles in this mild thriller with her performance.

THE VERDICT
Watch it only if you are an ardent fan of Akshaye Khanna.
